Miss Michigan Makes Musical Art with Art Road Students

On October 16, 2017 As a Guest Artist Volunteer Heather Kendrick, Miss Michigan 2017, came to Charles Wright and played her violin for our students and then worked with them on their art projects.  “A great day in art class with art Road, which allows these students to have art class included in their school day.  We talked about colors, the rainbow, sheet music, and the connection between art mediums; art+music+dance+theatre+writing+design…we love it all!

Miss Michigan 2017, Heather Kendrick

Our students really bonded with Heather, they made art with a real celebrity!  Heather shared her music and passion for the arts with our students.  Heather enjoyed Art Road’s art program so much, she visited both Spain Elementary & Middle School and Edison Elementary School as Miss Michigan, playing music and making art  with our students.  She also attended the Mercedes-Benz Annual Art Reception representing  Art Road as Miss Michigan and Mitch Albom’s S.A.Y Detroit partnership ceremony in which Art Road became a partner for the 2018-2019 school year.  Heather was a dynamic force for Art Road all year long, using her position as Miss Michigan to help us raise awareness about the importance of the arts in schools.
